Thank you Claude for building me this new home!
It all started as a github page that hosts an essay1 I wrote for a queer-literature class because video support in PDFs is bad and I didn’t want the video snippets be not embedded in the essay. So, naturally, I made a website (with the help of the Claude web interface).
Quartz was great for this since it meant I could have things look like I wrote them in my Obsidian. And when seeing the sidebars I knew I needed to add The Sounds of Neo SF2 as the background track, so a new module got created :)
Since then I’ve gained more METs and since of the three other transfem friends I had at the time, two had their own website, I felt group pressure to also have one :D
A bit more Claude-web-interfacing later and I turned my old essay project into the basis of my website. Some encouragements by close ppl later and it started to host previous creations and writings I did and now it’s the home of my public commitment to the new arc: Exploration & Discovery and more writings to get more comfortable w public-ness and self-expression.
But since having been shown how to switch from the web interface to command line, Claude…
- implemented a variety of hotkeys 3
- made banner images in the sidebar work4
- got a custom sidebar for the mobile version5
- minor/background things
- resolved loading time issues
- normalized links (all lowercase)
- fixed various issues that popped up
- created modules that automatically add new posts and recently updated posts to the main page
- posts now automatically show their post or last update date
- reading time estimate is only shown if it’s somewhat meaningful
- customized the 404 page
- added a QR code for easy sharing
- link handling
- upgraded the music player
- found out there’s an RSS feed
- changed it to rely on frontmatter, rather than filesystem dates
- changed url and html head to avoid rss aggregator pickup
- added a transformer for custom URLs4
url:orslug:- (and learned that
permalinkis a Quartz-native way to create a redirect)
And helped me switch from github pages to cloudflare pages, which also now has a much shorter URL (back to the dark days of web interface usage though for the setup).
