self-directed work
In a recent conversation it came up that the connections I had to the word “work” were quite different to V’s, which shaped our attitudes and ways to talk about things.
To me “work” was the mostly (computer-y) things one had to do, either for uni or a job or some other obligations. It’s stuff that you have to do.
To V it was that but without the obligations part. Things like blog post writing also counted. But I like writing. I don’t like work (that I’m ~forced to do but that doesn’t align w my values). Well, I don’t like having to do things (that don’t align w my values or further my goals).
So, to be able to talk abt this more easily: swork
I want to alter my life to have more enjoyable and self-directed work things. Things I want to work on.
(I don’t know whether I will be rigorously differentiating work and swork in each writing and conversation, but it’s good to have a handle for it when necessary)
